IEC Activities for 2019-2020
• The State Organ & Tissue Transplant Organization, SOTTO Webportal and HLA Lab was Inaugurated in December 2019 in the presence of Hon. Health Minister of Goa Shri Vishwajit Rane, Director NOTTO Dr. Vasanthi Ramesh, Secretary Health Nila Mohanan IAS, Dean & Medical Superintendent Prof. Dr. S.M. Bandekar & HOD’s of Goa Medical College.

• CME on Brainstem death certification with faculty of GMC and physicians/intensivists of private transplant hospitals of Goa. Speakers for the CME were Dr. Ponraj Sundaram, Prof & Head, Department of Neurosurgery GMC, Dr. Teresa Ferreira Associate Professor, Dept of Neurology GMC , Dr. Edwin Gomes, Prof. & Head department of Medicine GMC and Dr. Preeti Varghese Joint Director SOTTO Goa.

• Awareness talk at Merces organized in collaboration with the VM Salgaocar law college (legal aid cell). Speakers were Dr. Edwin Gomes and Dr. Preeti Varghese.

• Goa Medical College in Collaboration with SOTTO Goa organized a ‘GOMECOTHON’ with theme Organ Donation. Around 800 Medico’s participated in the marathon and 100 people pledged as Organ Donor.

• Awareness Session on Organ Donation for the students & Faculty of Institute of Nursing education by Dr. Preeti Varghese, Joint Director SOTTO Goa.

• In the month of December the State of Goa witnessed its first ever Cadaveric Organ Transplant. The transplant was performed at Goa Medical College & Hospital, Bambolim. The 21 year old Organ Donor’s Family was felicitated by SOTTO Goa in order to appreciate their selfless gesture of Organ Donation and to encourage more people to pledge their Organs.
