IEC Activities for 2021
Poster Making Competition & Essay writing competition was held at Goa Medical College on the topic Organ Donation.
The Annual Undergraduate Medical and Allied Health Conference Organized by students of Goa Medical College observed this year theme as Organ Donation where they encouraged medical students to pledge organs.
The Nodal Officer SOTTO Goa, Prof. Dr. S.M. Bandekar and Joint Director SOTTO Goa, Dr. Preeti Varghese gave a talk on importance of organ donation. The prize winners of Poster Competition and Essay writing competition were felicitated at the Hands of the Health Minister of Goa, Shri. Vishwajit P. Rane during the Annual Day Function of Goa Medical College.
SOTTO Goa and Goa Medical College celebrated World Kidney Day on 11th March 2021 to use it as a platform to make people aware of Benefits of Renal Transplant. Where in a Living Donor, Living Donor Kidney Recipient and a deceased donor kidney recipient and a patient on dialysis for 19 years and living well gave their testimonies and were felicitated at the hands of Chief Guest of the function Secretary Health Shri. Ravi Dhawan, IAS., Also, the Staff of Nephrology ward, Dialysis unit and Urology Ward were felicitated in recognition for their commitment and dedicated service. Dr. Shital Lengade, Consultant Nephrology, GMC gave a lecture on benefits of Organ Transplant and myths related to the donor in Live Donor Kidney Transplant.
A Facebook handle has been created named SOTTO Goa and a page to promote Deceased Donor Organ Transplant Programme named: www.facebook.com/navejivit .
SOTTO Goa in Collaboration with ROTTO SOTTO, Western Region & Maharashtra Organized a Cadaver Retrieval Workshop (Kidney, Liver, Bones) on 19th March 2021 in Goa Medical College with the goal of training more doctors in organ retrieval. It was attended by 110 participants from all over Goa.
SOTTO Goa celebrated Organ Donation Awareness Week from 9th to 14 of August 2021. As a part of this celebration following Activities were conducted.

i. Poster Making Competition on topic Organ Donation was organized by SOTTO Goa. 2 Winners from each category were chosen and awarded with a Certificate of Appreciation and a cash prize. Following were the winning entries.

ii. Awareness talk on organ donation was held at Asilo Hospital Mapusa.

iii. Awareness talk was organized at Hospicio Hospital in three session for administrative staff, Nursing Staff, and an CME on Organ Donation for the Doctors.

iv. On World Organ Donation Day, The Dean Of Goa Medical College & Hospital addressed 800 plus medical students through online platform and sensitized them about the Need & Importance of Organ Donation.

v. An awareness Talk was held at Government Higher Secondary School, Sanquelim through the NSS Cell. The talk was attended by Teaching and non-teaching staff of the institute.

SOTTO Goa in a continuous process of spreading awareness about Organ Donation, held an online awareness talk for the Government Higher Secondary School Mangoor Hill, Vasco.
Dr. Preeti Varghese Joint Director SOTTO Goa addressed members of YWCA through Google Meet and sensitized them about organ donation.
An awareness Talk was held for the teaching staff of Dr. K.B. Hedgewar School, Cujira.
On World Organ Donors Day, Dr. Shital Lengade, Nephrologist, conducted an Awareness session in Healthway hospital emphasising on the Importance of Organ Donation. This Talk was attended by the staff of the hospital and patient relatives.

An article on Organ Donation was published on the English daily The Navhind Times.
Organ Donation Awareness Talk at Mandur Health Centre Organised in Collaboration with Medical Students Cell of Indian Medical Association that was attended by the doctors, nursing staff, support staff of the hospital and patient relatives.
The flag off function was organized for ‘The Cause Travellers’ on their pan India road trip to create Organ Donation Awareness.
The Dean Of Goa Medical College, Prof. Dr. S. M. Bandekar released an awareness poster & QR Code to make Organ Pledging Simpler.
