The State organ & Tissue Transplant Organization Goa Medical College in collaboration with Entertainment Society of Goa organized the Ad Film and Reel Making competition themed “the Gift” Organ Donation. An orientation session for the participants was conducted by Dr. Preeti Varghese Joint Director of SOTTO Goa.

SOTTO Goa Medical College conducted an interactive organ donation awareness session at the Department of Forest, Government of Goa. SOTTO officials, including Dr. Preeti Varghese, Joint Director SOTTO Goa and Shraddha Kelkar, Consultant IEC interacted with the staff and explained the need and process of organ donation in detail. Mr. Aditya Madanpotra, IFS, Deputy Conservator of Forest, Headquarters, urged the staff members to spread the message of organ donation to their colleagues, family, and friends.
Organ Donation awareness Session was organized at a Carmel College by Rotary Club Margao midtown and Rotary Club Mapusa Elegance. The Guest speakers for the session were Dr. Reeta Dar, Member of Action Group for Organ Donation Rotary Club and Dr Preeti Varghese, Joint Director SOTTO Goa. Around 100 plus students and teachers along with their principal attended the session. Dr. Preeti Varghese During the session explained the importance of Organ Pledging. Pamphlets containing the FAQ’s on Organ Donation were distributed by SOTTO during the session.

Goa witnessed the first Organ Donation of year 2025, wife of 25 year old native of Jabalpur Madhya pradesh consented for organ Donation and saved 5 lives. SOTTO allocated the donated kidneys to 35 year and 36 year female recipient at Goa Medical College. The heart was allocated to 55 year male at H. N Reliance Hospital Mumbai, Liver to 39 year old male from Zydus hospital Ahmadabad by ROTTO West and Lungs were allocated by NOTTO to Apollo Indraprasth Hospital Delhi. Three Green Corridors from Goa Medical College to Mopa and Dabolim Airport were arranged by SOTTO Goa with help of Goa Police Traffic Cell.

The honorable Health minister of Goa Shri. Vishvajit P. Rane felicitated the Donor’s Wife and expressed gratitude for saying Yes to Organ Donation, followed by a Media Briefing and promised to support in the edcuation of Donors three Childrens through his trust. Prof. Dr. S M Bandekar Dean Goa Medical College, Mrs. Trupti Manerkar Joint Secretary Health, Govt. Of Goa, Dr. Rajesh Patil, Medical Superintedent, GMC and Dr. Preeti Varghese were present during the function.
The Organ Donor at manipal hospital saved life of 3 People through Organ Donation. Staff of manipal hospital was admitted to Manipal hospital and was declared brain dead the wife of patient on counceling said yes to organ donation. SOTTO Goa allocated both donated kidneys to a 34-year-old male recipient at Healthway Hospital and a 42-year-old female recipient at Goa Medical College. The Liver was allocated by the Regional Organ & Tissue Transplant Organization (ROTTO) West to a 67-year-old recipient at Vishesh Jupiter Hospital Indore. The seamless execution of this life-saving endeavor was made possible by the exceptional collaboration between SOTTO Goa, Manipal Hospital, Goa Police Traffic Cell, 108 Ambulance services, Airport officials at Dabolim and Mopa Airport.

The wife of 47 year old Organ Donor staff of Manipal Hospital was felicitated by Prof. Dr. S M Bandekar Goa Medical College and Dr. Preeti Varghese Joint Director SOTTO GMC for her generous act of organ donation that saved 3 lives.

Organ Donation by a 22 year old patient at GMC saved 3 lives. The donor was a native of Kerala and was working as ground staff at MOPA international airport. Upon declared brain dead and counseled for organ donation the father came forward and took a selfless and brave decision and said yes to organ donation. The State Organ & Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTTO) Goa Medical College has allocated the kidneys to 33-year-old and 34-year-old male recipients at Goa Medical College. The liver was allocated by Regional Organ & Tissue Transplant Organization (ROTTO) West to MGM Hospital Aurangabad. A Green Corridor was arranged by SOTTO Goa, with the help of Goa Traffic Police Cell, to transport the liver from Goa Medical College to Dabolim Airport. Excellent coordination between Goa Traffic Police and airport officials ensured the swift transportation of the organ.
The press briefing was organized after the 3rd Organ Donation of 2025. During the press briefing Next of Kin of the Organ Donor were felicitated by Prof Dr S M Bandekar Dean Goa Medical College by handing a shawl and a thank you certificate as a token of gratitude. Dr. Jinedra Kumar, Associate Professor, Dept of Neurosurgery GMC, Dr. Apurva Kamat, Intensivist and TPM Incharge of GMC and representatives from various media houses were present during the ceremony.
Organ Donation Awareness Session was held for the OT Staff of Goa Medical College by Dr. Preeti Varghese Joint Director SOTTO Goa. It was an interesting and interactive session where staff member’s queries about apnea test, brain death and organ donation were discussed.

The State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTTO) Goa Medical College hosted a state-level Ad Film and Reel making competition on the theme of organ donation. This initiative aimed to inspire filmmakers and content creators in Goa to explore the concept of organ donation and convey this vital message to a broader audience through their creative talents. An impressive response with 25 Ad Films and 8 Reels received. A distinguished panel of judges comprising Dr. Preeti Varghese, Joint Director, SOTTO Goa, Mr. Sachin Chatte, Film Reviewer of Goa, and Ms. Shraddha Kelkar, Consultant IEC, SOTTO Goa, carefully evaluated the entries.

The winners of the competition were felicitated at ‘Pratibha’ a prize distribution ceremony and cultural event of Goa Medical College. The Hon. Health Minister of Goa, Shri. Vishwajit P. Rane awarded the winners with certificates, trophies, and cash prizes in the presence of esteemed dignitaries like Dean Goa Medical College Prof. Dr. S.M. Bandekar, Mrs. Trupti Manerkar, Additional Secretary Health, Govt. of Goa, Professor’s and heads of Various Department Goa Medical College, students and parents.

SOTTO Goa Medical College organized an informative session at Lokmat office. As a influential messengers to the public media personnel play a vital role in shaping opinions and promoting social causes. The session aimed to educate journalists about the concepts and importance of organ donation. The session was attended by Mr. Sandeep Gupte, General Manager, Mr. Sadguru Patil, Editor, Mr. Viraj Chougule, HR, journalist and admin staff of Lokmat along with SOTTO Officials.

SOTTO Goa in collaboration with Rotary Club conducted an organ donation awareness session at Goa Vidya Prasarak Mandal’s High School for the Teachers, Students and Parents. Around 100 people attended the session.

An Organ Donation Awareness session was conducted for the members of Jeevan Vidya Mission at Mapusa. Around 30 members attended the session and took a pledge for organ donation.

SOTTO Goa collaborated with Students council Goa Medical College to organize a Street Play Competition on Organ Donation as a part of Plexus 2025 an intercollegiate event. Around 8 colleges from all across Goa participated in the street play and disseminated messages like Organ Donation Saves Lives, Don’t Burry or Burn your Organs, Donate and give them a new life.

As a part of the training SOTTO officials attended a one day workshop on DBD & DCD – Role of Intensive Care in Deceased Donation Organized by Mohan Foundation at Ramada Chennai. The workshop contained sessions on Donation after Brain Death and Donation after Cardiac Death.

The State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation Goa Medical College was awarded the Big Impact Award 2025 by 92.7 Big FM, acknowledging the commitment towards the Organ & Tissue Donation and Transplant Programme. Prof. Dr. S.M. Bandekar Dean & Director, SOTTO Goa Medical College and Dr. Preeti Varghese Joint Director, SOTTO Goa received the award at the hands of Mr. Atul Razdan, Chief Marketing Officer of BIG FM & Bollywood Actress Mugdha Godse.

State Organ & Tissue Transplant Organization Goa Medical College organized a full-day Continuous Nursing Education Programme on “LIVING WITH CKD EMPOWERING NURSES TO CARE MORE” which focused on kidney Disease and the modalities of treatment. A total of 100 participants for the CNE were handpicked from the departments dealing with CKD patients, Dialysis units and ICU and Transplant Units. The CNE was a combination of Educational sessions by the nurses and session based activities like quiz, roleplay, describing the pathways, etc. Dr. Preeti Varghese Joint Director of SOTTO Goa moderated all the activities and sessions giving her valuable insights and expertise on the topics.

SOTTO Goa Medical College conducted an Organ Donation Awareness Session for the Staff of Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs, at Campal Panaji Goa. The interactive session was attended by around 50 officials.

Sai Nursing Institute, Sanquelim visited the SOTTO office at GMC. Orientation Session on Organ Donation & Transplant Programme was conducted by Dr. Preeti Varghese, Joint Director SOTTO Goa and Ms. Pratiksha Naik, Transplant Coordinator, GMC. Batch of 56 GNM students along with their faculty members attended the session.

SOTTO Goa Medical College organized an Organ Donation awareness talk at the Directorate of Social Welfare, Government of Goa. Over 100 employees including Director Shri. Ajit Panchwadkar attended the session. Around 50-plus people pledged to donate organs and took a step towards giving the gift of life.
SOTTO Goa Medical College conducted an Organ Donation Awareness Session at SMRC’s V. M. Salgaocar Hospital, Vasco. Around 40 Staff members including Medical professionals and Admin staff attended the session.
Organ Donation Awareness Session was conducted by SOTTO Goa Medical College for the Staff of Directorate of Agriculture, at Krishi Bhavan. The interactive session was attended by around 30 officials.
